Dog Cave Size Guide

vizsla ligt in cave grijs

Why is the right size dog cave so important?

  • If you don't choose the right size, your dog will never like to lie down in the cave or maybe not at all. Often a dog won't lie down if the size is too small.
  • If the cave is too small they can't make the turn properly. It's better to take a size too big than a size too small
  • To prevent your dog from getting cold in the cave.
  • An incorrectly sized cave can lead to restlessness in your dog and poor (night) rest.
  • The wrong size dog cage can lead to sore muscles or joints and cause back problems.

To determine the correct size dog cave you will need:

  1. the weight of your dog
  2. the back length
  3. the height at the withers
How do you measure back length?:

1. Let your relaxed dog stand

2. Measure from the shoulder blades to the tail set-in using a flexible measuring tape

How do you measure the height at the withers?:

2. Measure from the shoulder blades to the floor using a flexible measuring tape.

Please note: do not measure your dog lying down or from the highest point of the head including tail
